National Family Health and Fitness Day USA is September 26 which also reminds us to put family fitness first. Join us September 26th to walk individually, in small social distancing walking groups or in virtual chapter “lite” Pilates groups.
The DMV cluster chapters of The Links, Incorporated -- are hosting a voter information forum on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 PM. Our goal for this event is to get more local residents registered to vote, provide voter education and increase voter participation in the November 2020 election.
As the nation continues to battle two pandemics -- COVID-19 and systemic racism -- this election has real life or death implications for all Americans. However, this moment is especially perilous for communities of color as COVID-19 ravages on and marches for justice continue all across the nation. While the presidential election will be particularly impactful this year, there are also many down-ballot issues that are equally, if not more, important to improving the lives of people of color. It is at this moment that the DMV chapters of The Links, Incorporated are working together to make a difference by hosting this virtual event appropriately called “Vote Like Your Life Depends on it...Because it Does.”
The attendees at this non-partisan forum will leave the event encouraged, engaged, and energized to vote. Some of the forum topics to be covered are: social justice and criminal justice reform, COVID-19, FAQs to educate DMV voters on local issues including how to vote, etc., and employment implications on the election.
